Ben Wei
Community Coordinator & Chief Food Officer
Benjamin’s passion for community development first begun when growing up in Forest Hills, Queens. Prep for Prep, an educational non-profit placed Benjamin at the Collegiate School on the Upper West Side, where he served as Student Body President and was involved in leading community-wide events. Benjamin deferred a year from Harvard College to work with Cory Booker in Newark building Cory’s community based non-profit, Newark Now, and on his successful 2006 mayoral campaign. After college, he began his career in technology, first working in the Office of Management and Operations for Rakuten, the world’s seventh-largest internet conglomerate. In 2009 Ben founded his own technology company in Singapore alongside Facebook Co-Founder Eduardo Saverin. During his time in Singapore, Benjamin met with the government as well as local tech leaders on contributing to the growth of Singapore’s own technology ecosystem. He returned home to Queens to lead a technology company focused on launching mobile platforms and social applications for the consumer market. Benjamin joined Coalition for Queens to apply his experience in entrepreneurship and technology in order to grow the tech community in his native borough.
